Welcome to Over the Brim!
Welcome to Over the Brim! After years of running various personal blogs and taking some time off, a vision for something bigger grew and Over the Brim came to be. I'm so excited to finally share it with you and to see what we can make of it, together!
If you click around the beautiful magazine style navigation, you'll find that we'll be diving into a few topics here: creativity, family, life in Christ, and exploration. I wondered for a while if this would "work" because, at a glance, it seems like those don't all fit together in a neat package. Many creative entrepreneurs and bloggers I follow talk about the need to find one niche and stick with it. I fought through trying to narrow it down, I just couldn't land anywhere that felt right, because...
I don't compartmentalize, anything, ever. It's not how I'm wired and it's really not how I want to be wired. Creativity, family, life in Christ (spiritual life/faith), and exploration might not fit into a nice neat little package but they do fit in the big, not always tidy, package that is my life. To be the fullest version of me, I HAVE to be active in all of these areas and they have to be integrated with each other, informing each other, holding hands and dancing through life.
As I processed all of this, I decided to throw out all the opinions and advice that demand I choose ONE narrow focus. Ah! Freedom. I also began to wonder if maybe this IS one narrow focus, a place of convergence, where creativity, family, life in Christ, and exploration mix and match and make the very best of friends! It's where the four come together, telling One Story. The most beautiful story of all!
I know I am not the only one who is journeying out a life like this, so if any or all of these topics resonate with you, please, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, or Dr. Pepper) pull up a chair and let's LIVE a life filled up and overflowing. (I'm not talking about a full schedule, though there may be seasons of that too, but a full LIFE...) May all that spills Over the Brim of our lives be filled with Beauty and Truth.
